Sermon by Venerable Luangta Maha Bua Yannasampanno

A part of the sermon to laymen atWat Pa Baan Taad
On 17 th July 2001

…Think about that, like Wat Pa Luangta Bua ( Tiger Temple ), one hundred percent boars, until Than Chan (Phra Acharn Chan-the Abbot) almost dies, having to feed them. I feel pity as I have already involved with animals. That’s why I am worried, having to find them rice. That day I got 2,040 sacks. Before I came, 300 wild boars, at first one or two only, came to eat. Then they told their friends, and they keep on coming. I didn’t ask Than Chan to see whether there is any bell up there. So they can ring the bell to tell their friends to have meal with monks. Even no bell, they still keep on coming, see, 200-300 boars! They still come for food in the monastery every day, even whether the monks have provided any food for them. But they came and waited there. Why? This is trust. Wherever the Dhamma is, compassion, pity, can get to the heart of animals. It cannot be seen from the outside, look into the mind. This is the way the Buddha taught us. So, remember this….
