1 Jan 2006 : New Years Day at Tiger Temple

This year there were many people who were interested in meditation stayed overnight at the monastery. At midnight starting the minute of New Year, many peacocks shouted loud one repeated after the other..spreading around the monastery, following by the sound of firework from the near village (how the peacocks knew it’s the mid-night time?).

There was no any voice of tigers. Our tigers may be sleeping, or else praying quietly. They might not wish to disturb Pra Acharn as he was staying meditation at his kuti (3 days before year-end) and came out in the early morning of New Years Day. Though Pra Acharn did not turn up at the Sala at midnight, he definitely gave us blessing from his brawana. Many made a wish to practice meditation to cerebrate the new year minute and some did it!

In the morning before his one meal breakfast, Pra Acharn blessed us with the deep impressive words and gave us a very good sermon…the highlights are…this new year we should make the good merit not only by giving or donating but also making better in observing the precepts; and the best of all is to practice the meditation for each own’s mind. This year he will stress on leading the meditation practice for anyone who is interested to attend and stay at the monastery. As the good merit belongs to the one who does.
